This year, the holiday of Pesach (Passover) occurs March 31-April 8 (1999). But there's lots to learn and do before then. Here are some Passover fun facts.
- Moses brought 10 plagues upon Pharaoh and the land of Egypt. First, G-d turned the Nile River to blood!
- For 210 years, the Jewish people were slaves to the Egyptians. Finally, G-d sent Moses to free the Jews.
G-d commanded the Jews to slaughter a lamb, put its blood on the door posts and stay in their houses, while He killed the first born males throughout Egypt.
- After the last plague, Pharaoh freed the Jews. He made them leave so quickly that their dough didn't rise. So they only could take matzah with them. The Exodus from Egypt happened on the 14th of Nissan, in the year 2448 from Creation. That's 3,311 years ago! We've been enjoying Passover ever since!
